What is "sugaring"?"Sugaring is an ancient art of hair removal. The sugar paste is made out of 100% organic ingredients - sugar, lemon & water. Sugaring is safe, gentle and effective for all skin types. Sugar paste cannot harbor bacteria, nor encourage the growth of it. Because of the composition of sugar paste and how it's applied, the product remains sanitary. Due to the hand-held method, there is no "double dipping" nor any risk of cross contamination. Sugaring is the safest method of hair removal because it is a natrual preservative, sugar is only used at slightly above room temperature, making it a very safe method of all delicate tissues and skin types, including diabetics, varicose veins, moles, psoriasis, eczema and other areas areas not safely treated with wax. We use a "hand held" method to apply a custom blended organic sugar paste that gently removes unwanted hair and dead skin cells for clean smooth skin.
-
Is sugaring less plainful than waxing? In theory, yes. The paste is not hot, therefore there is little discomfort to you. Hair is removed in the direction of growth and only adheres to dead skin cells. Sugar can be reapplied to the same area as much as necessary to remove even the shortest hair, without skin damage.
-
How long do I have to wait to get sugared? For sugaring we only need 5-7 days of hair growth depending on the area, 2 weeks is sweeter! (legs minimum of 3 weeks / bikini area minimum of 1 week / underarms minimum of 1-2 weeks).
-
What if my hair is too long?If the length of your hair is long, before you arrive please trim it to 1/4" before your appointment. For sanitary purposes, we do not offer bikini trimming during the service.
-
What if I'm on my period?Typically you are more sensitive a few days before and after the start of your cycle. If your period decides to come early, you are more than welcome to proceed with your sugaring appointment. However, if you are uncomfortable with proceeding with your sugaring appointment we are more than understanding and will rescheduling accordingly.
-
Is there anything I should do before I come in to get sugared?Yes, please exfoliate the day before your appointment. Doing so well help to expose the hairs that will be sugared and allow for a less painful service! Do NOT exfolate the day of, doing so can cause over exfoliation and irritation for sensitive skin.
-
After my treatment is there anything I shouldn't do?Avoid touching your freshly sugared area with dirty hands. Avoid working out, hot showers/baths/tubs. Sexual activity is not recommended, the pores of your skin are more open and there is a greater chance of bacterial infection and discomfort. Exfolation should be avoided for 24 hours after treatment, as this can irritate sensitive skin. Do not use perfumed soap or products with chemical irritants on treated area within 24 hours of your treatment. Avoide sun tanning for at least 24 hours after your appointment, your skin will be more senstivie to UV rays.
-
When should I rebook my next appointment? The best results occur when you establish a consistent routine suitable to your hair growth. Since th reduction of hair growth is a gradual process and is achieved by regular treatments over a period of time, the usual span between appointments is 4-6 weeks.

Do you offer male brazilians? At this time Pure Skin & Body doesn't have any trained professionals to perform this service safely. However, we do offer a few other services for our gentlemen! You can view those services, here.

How do I prevent ingrown hairs? With any type of hair removal, your hair becomes much thinner and less coarse which makes it more difficult for the hair to naturally grow up and out of the skin. Using a dry brush (physical exfoliation) or Lady Suite's Exfoliating Ingrown Solution (chemical exfoliation) will dramatically help you from getting ingrowns. When you remove hair from the root, your skin naturally builds up skin cells and if your skin doesn't naturally exfoliate, your hair gets trapped in the hair follicle. Exfoliation is extremely important for clear, smooth, long lasting results!
-
What kind of facial should I do?If you are unsure of what type of facial you should get, we always recommend first booking either the Pure 45 or 60 Facial and we customize it there for you!
-
Will I break out after a facial?Breaking out isn't uncommon after a facial due to the exfolation process. If blemishes are present under the layers of the skin, a facial will help to draw those impurities out and they will heal much faster. After repeated facials (typically every 4-6 weeks) breakouts/skin purging after facials will decrease if not diminish completely.
-
Can I wear makeup after my facial?Wearing makeup is not recommended after receiving a facial for at least 24 hours. Your skin can be more sensitive after receiving a facial and your pores are open and clean where some makeup brands can recongest your skin.
